About Central

On September 12th, 1912, Reverend Abraham Hager wrote a short note in beautiful Gothic script about the first 15 years of ministry at the First German Baptist Church of Edmonton, Alberta. When he hid the letter behind the cornerstone of the church that day, it is doubtful that he had any idea that it would not be found until the church relocated the stone to its new facility in 1973. It is further doubtful that he realized that over the next 100 years, the church now called Central Baptist would be involved with planting many Edmonton area churches, grow to hundreds of members, baptize over 1000 people, and give millions of dollars to needy parts of the world. Central’s history is rich, and the hand of the Lord is clear throughout. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
